“A Celebration of 40 Years of About Town” –The Marlborough Historical Society of New York invites you to join us on Sunday, August 27, 2023 at 2 PM at the historic Milton Train Station to celebrate 40 years of the quarterly, regional publication About Town. Vivian Yess Wadlin, publisher of the popular area guide, will speak on the history of Ulster County’s early economic development and the impact of its natural resources, especially water, with particular attention paid to the Town of Marlborough and the hamlet of Milton. Immediately following Vivian’s talk, the Historical Society will invite all attendees to celebrate the 40th year of About Town‘s publication. A lifelong resident of Ulster County, Vivian is a graduate of Marist College with a degree in Economics. There began her interest in how the availability of local natural resources influenced our economic development. She will use images collected over the past four decades to underscore her narrative. Admission to this event is free and all are welcome. The historic Milton Train Station was built in 1883 and is located at 41 Dock Road, Milton, NY, next to the Milton Landing Park on the Hudson River. The train station was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2007. If you have any questions, call Tom Schroeder (845-590-7027) or Ellen Stewart (551-998-4238).
