An oral histories and community arts project based in Marlborough, NY that entails interviews about our town and ourselves! Musician and composer and Marlboro resident, Katie Down, is working on interviews along with volunteers from Marlboro and Milton to gather as many stories as we can in the next two weeks! She will be creating a sound score based on all the voices from the interviews that includes sounds from nature, local businesses, music and poetry. In October in the form of  4 public sound walks – 2 in the hamlet of Marlboro and 2 along the Marlboro Nature Trail, we will experience the sound scores.
More details will come in late September and the dates of the walks are October 16, 17 and 18. SAVE THE DATES! Tell your friends. Everyone is welcome and encouraged to participate!
We would love to hear your stories if you’re a resident of Marlborough! There are also audio recorders that you can borrow at the Marlboro Free Library to check out to interview your loved ones as part of the oral histories component of this project too! We will stop gathering the oral histories for the sound score by August 15th in order to focus on the compositions but the oral histories can continue on their own which will be archived at the Marlboro Free LIbrary.
