Getting Started with Genealogy
Saturday, January 20, Presentation at 11:00 a.m. & Workshop at 12:00 p.m.
Have you been meaning to research your family tree, but haven’t gotten around to it yet? Start off the new year by attending the Marlboro Library’s genealogy presentation on Saturday, January 20, and get a head start! Participants can attend just our Getting Started with Genealogy Presentation or our Intro to Researching Your Family History Workshop, or both programs.
During the 11:00 a.m. presentation, attendees will learn how to map out a family tree, methods to record findings, review the basics of using AncestryLibrary.com, and hear about other free research websites. Walk-ins are welcome. Click here to RSVP, to be notified of any cancelations in case of inclement weather.
At 12:00 p.m., workshop attendees will apply their newfound research skills to make discoveries. Search through genealogical databases and websites, while Library staff assist with questions or problems. Bring your Library card and family history as far back as you know (even if it’s just your grandparents), and we will help expand your search.
Registration is required if you would like to reserve one of the Library’s laptops, as a limited amount are available. Click here to reserve a laptop.
