Freeborn served in the Vietnam War from August 3, 1971- March 16, 1972, and was stationed in Da Nang as part of the 1st/46th– 196th Light Infantry Brigade. During his presentation, Freeborn will discuss his time serving overseas, which are recounted in the letters he received and sent home during his time in Vietnam. The author knows many returning Vietnam veterans were unable to talk about their experiences there, as in many cases it was too painful or difficult for them. After many years of struggling with these same feelings, he wrote this story to share his experience with others.
About the author:
Joseph Freeborn took many years to compile this book, with the hope that it would enable readers to get a better sense of this divisive war. Today, after successful careers in design engineering and property development, the author is retired and lives a quiet life with his wife of 45 years. Freeborn hopes that by reading this book, the reader will consider and remember the thousands of young men that had similar experiences during their time in Vietnam.
