Synopsis: Fiddler on the Roof (music by Jerry Bock, lyrics by Sheldon Harnick, and book by Joseph Stein) is one of the most influential musicals from the last century.  It has captured audiences time and time again.  The story revolves around Tevye, a family man with five daughters, who works tirelessly to keep his religious and cultural traditions in tact within his little village of Anatevka.  Throughout the story, outside influences (love, government, modernization, etc.) continue to threaten all that the villagers hold dear.  Tevye also has to contend with his three eldest, strong-willed daughters as each, along with their soon-to-be husbands, push the boundaries of love and marriage customs.   The villagers of Anatevka must also contend with Russian soldiers who work to enforce an edict from the Tsar that evicts all of the Jewish people from their village.  Fiddler on the Roof features well-known songs such as “Matchmaker,” “Tradition,” and “Sunrise, Sunset.”
