“She is one of those wonderful spirits; she’s got her arms around you.

You can feel that.” – Levon Helm (1940-2012)

“It’s a rare thing to share the stage with great talent like that young lady.” – B.B. King (1925-2015)

The root of the Alexis P. Suter Band’s sound is Suter’s deep, powerful, commanding, and soulful voice, artfully blending the lines between gospel and blues. Suter is the daughter of a singer, Carrie Suter, backing vocalist with Harry Belafonte and Mahalia Jackson and cites the late classic R&B singer, Ruth Brown, as a primary influence.

In 2005, Suter and her band attracted the attention of the legendary drummer for the Band, Levon Helm. Helm offered the group numerous showcases at his Midnight Ramble in Woodstock, NY. Helm, true to his word, put his money where his mouth was and released Live at the Midnight Ramble, with the band, on his own label.

The Alexis P. Suter Band has been blazing trails to clubs and festivals throughout North America, and proudly features backup singer Vicki Bell and drummer Ray Grappone, the principal owners and sound engineers at Hipbone Records, as well as guitarist Jimmy Bennett and bassist Peter Bennett. They have made a tour of Italy and recorded two albums for Brooklyn-based record label, Hipbone Records.
