County Update :

County Executive Pat Ryan announced that Ulster County has offered assistance to aid neighboring counties response to Covid19 supplies. Executive Ryan extended help to Dutchess, Columbia and Green Counties as we maintain a close partnership with our neighbors. “The virus doesn’t not respect county borders and neither can we. To protect the health and safety of our area, we must aid our neighbors whenever possible”

Also: Despite all the challenges thrown at us during these uncertain times, Ulster County continues to stay ahead of the curve.
As the first in the state to close our schools , setting up two County led Mobile testing sites , surging our public heath and nursing staff for community testing and case tracking, and building a overflow community care center in case our hospitals are overwhelmed shows our dedication to all our residents.

Ulster County is here for its residents.

FYI : Ulster County Executive Ryan will hold a Facebook live town hall meeting on Thursday April 26th at 2:00 pm.

State:

Congress continues to put the finishing touches on its forth federal aid package. This package is to direct funds to every State and every county for direct support.
County and State government are responsible for providing critical public health assistance, emergency management and human services in response to this pandemic. These services have been even more critical and often times making the difference between life and death.
Know that due to the unexpected cost of responding to the Covid19 virus , we are certainly going to experience catastrophic revenue losses due to declining sales tax revenues and anticipated reduction in state aid to each county. This is a double whammy of major revenue losses and significant emergency expenditures.

Also: When asked when will the state reopen Governor Como said “ we have learned facts that are helping to control the virus. What we have also learned that we can’t hermetically seal society. We know more each day and will use that knowledge to inform every decision we make”

Sit tight “ stay the course” and we will all get through this and as always , any questions or if you need help , please contact me.

ULSTER COUNTY RECRUITS MEDICAL PROFESSIONALS TO HELP BOLSTER COVID-19 RESPONSE

County Executive Ryan announces that the Health Department will be putting out a call for nurses and doctors to help address COVID-19 in Ulster County

KINGSTON, N.Y. – County Executive Pat Ryan announced today that the Ulster County Department of Health is now actively seeking doctors, nurses, and other medical professionals to assist in the County’s response to COVID-19. Ulster County is recruiting local, regional, and statewide volunteers to assist our local health care system during this time. The statewide database ServNY is also being utilized to surface and recruit volunteers. The announcement is specifically seeking licensed medical and health care volunteers, including retired health care professionals.
“As we build out additional hospital capacity to serve our residents, we are also going to need volunteers with medical backgrounds to step up and serve our community,” County Executive Ryan said. “Our healthcare workers have been on the front lines of this epidemic since day one and their efforts are nothing short of heroic. I continue to be tremendously impressed by the resiliency and generosity of the people of Ulster County, and I am confident that members of our community will step up to assist us at this critical moment.”

“We are continuing to use data on the ground, as well as learn from other areas impacted by COVID-19, to monitor and adjust our response daily,” Commissioner of Health Dr. Carol Smith said. “We are looking to add to our pool of health care professionals to ensure that we have adequate staff no matter how the situation unfolds in the upcoming weeks. We are continuing to work around the clock to ensure that Ulster County is prepared for any scenario.”

Those who are interested in volunteering should fill out the form found here.

There are currently 266 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Ulster County and 4 fatalities.
